Cognitive Behavioral Therapy For Eating Disorders
Eating disorder programs now focuses on cognitive-behavioural and experiential therapy.
These therapies aim to help you (an eating disorder sufferer) in figuring out how you came about with your body image. You may be required to recall the time when you were young and how it all started. It may be media comments, magazines that you bought, things that your parents say, the ridicule from your friends about being chubby, etc.
Then, you are also required to go through a series of exercises to show that you have a distorted view of your appearance. For instance, you are likely to find out that you have perceived that you are fat when you are actually stick thin. When you can see through this distortion, real recovery begins.
