I do not normally watch talk shows but lo and behold, two days ago, I switched on the TV and there was a full bodied and curvacious Tyra Banks in her talk show.
I was puzzled as I thought that she was a famous model. Looking that way sure does not quite gel.
That led me to do a search on the web.
I then found out that the entire entertainment industry has been griping at her recent weight gain.
Tyra was a runaway model. She recently put on 30 pounds. As we are all aware, the American public is morbidly fascinated with issues on weight. So this is sensational news for the tabloids.
What I thought was great was that Tyra Banks' reaction to the media uproar. "So what? I’m happy with who I am, and I’m beautiful!”
I applaud her attitude of being sure about herself. Her sense of self worth and beauty does not come from what other people think. Nor did she feel coerced to go on a diet - at least, not now!
Anyone with an eating disorder or on the verge of one should look to her reaction as a shining example. It is important to have a clear sense of identity and beauty, despite what the media thinks. That way, eating disorders will have less of a chance of occurence.
Tyra does look a little heavy on her hips but I must say that she looks great.
