You may want to take an Eating Disorder Quiz to ascertain if you are having an eating disorder or not. Simply answer yes or no to the following questions:

1. Do you weigh yourself more than one or two times a week?

2. Are you focused on calorie, fat, or food intake?

3. Do you sneak food or are you secretive about what you eat?

4. Do you have menstrual cycles that are irregular? (if you are female)

5. Do you exercise obsessively (almost everyday for more than an hour each time)?

6. Do you feel pressured to be thin?

7. Do you constantly compare yourself to models, celebrities, and other people?

8. Have you ever lost a significant amount of weight in a very short time?

9. Are you depressed or have you been depressed because of what you look like?

10. Do you eat until you feel physically sick?

11. Do you take laxatives, water pills, or use enemas on a regular basis to control your weight?

12. Have you ever induced vomiting to help control your weight?

13. Are you the type of a person who always has to be in control?

14. Do you expect yourself to be and look perfect all the time?

15. Do you feel that your life would be “perfect” if you lost weight?

16. Do you feel negative about yourself in terms of body shape?

17. Do you ever feel out of control when you are eating?

18. Do you allow the number on the scale to dictate how you feel about yourself?

19. Do you fast as a way to control your weight?

20. Do you always feel tired, irritable and experience swings in your weight?

If you answered “yes” to two or more questions, then you may have an eating disorder. Eating disorders are not something that should be ignored. Consult your physician or other healthcare provider.
